More than 50 customers on were without power for 85 minutes July 19 in the vicinity of Longmeadow and East Side drives on Geneva's east side.
An overhead wire tie broke off of an insulator allowing for a high voltage line to touch a transformer around 5:47 p.m. That caused a blown fuse. Crews were able to reattach and refuse the equipment by 7:12 p.m.
Storms Cause Service Bumps
As storms rolled into Geneva later that evening, about 4,000 customers experienced several instantaneous bumps in service but never lost power.
Strong winds and lightning caused service blips between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. at our substations serving Delnor Hospital, Fisher Farms and Eagle Brook subdivisions along with customers on Fargo Boulevard, Western Avenue, South Street and South Third Street.
