Union Pacific is building a third railroad line near the current UP-West railway tracks spanning from Peck Road in Geneva to West Chicago. Operations started in September, and the overall project is expected to be completed in July 2024.
Oct. 13 Update
Union Pacific said tree removals are scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 24 starting west of the Geneva train station and will progress west toward Peck Road during November.
In the meantime, the Union Pacific contractor continues to stake the project area, work with various utility companies, and mobilize for the upcoming construction. The Fox River Trail west bank detour has been established and work is underway to complete the east bank detour by the week of Oct. 17.
Construction will begin in October on the Fox River train bridge spanning the Fox River, according to Union Pacific.
