Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Route 25 - IDOT Resurfacing

The original item was published from October 1, 2017 10:00 PM to April 1, 2018 12:00 AM

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is expected to start road construction operations on Route 25 in Geneva shortly.

IDOT informed the City that construction crews will be lowering manholes and possibly begin milling pavement the week of Sept. 11. Once those operations are underway, motorists should expect delays due to lane closures.

Potential alternate routes include Kirk Road and Route 31.

The State will be resurfacing Route 25 from Route 64 in St. Charles south to East Wilson Street in Batavia this fall. The project will include the entire stretch of Route 25 (Bennett Street and Crissey Avenue) in Geneva. Sidewalk improvements are included as part of the project.

If you are interested in receiving road construction updates from the City, visit "Notify Me" on the City's website. We also provide updates on IDOT and Kane County projects when information is available.

For more information about the project, call IDOT Engineer Christopher Olson at 630-406-5367.
