Rumor
The City of Geneva has the authority and/or jurisdiction regarding the
250-apartment Prairie Winds development located along the north side of
Bricher Road, immediate west of the Lowes store, between Randall and
Peck roads.
Fact
The City of Geneva does not have any authority or jurisdiction regarding
the Prairie Winds project since it is located in the City of St.
Charles.
While Geneva does maintain Bricher Road, Geneva’s participation in the
development plan centered exclusively on stormwater management and
traffic impacts. The former was consistent with Kane County’s stormwater
management standards and the latter was enhanced based on Geneva’s
review and recommendations (via an independent third party traffic
consultant).
In addition, the City of Geneva pledges to remain attentive to any and
all traffic issues and Prairie Winds develops, and as always, will work
with the City of St. Charles (and the developer) to explore and advance
traffic mitigating solutions as warranted.
The Prairie Winds project was approved by St. Charles City Council on
May 1, 2017. Approved plans for the project are posted on
St. Charles’s website.
