Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Sanitary Sewer Lining Project May Produce Steam From Manholes

The original item was published from November 30, 2017 9:28 AM to September 1, 2018 12:10 AM

A City contractor will be lining sanitary sewers on Geneva's west side this week, and the steam curing process may cause white smoke to billow out of manholes.

Hoerr Construction crews are scheduled Nov. 30 to be lining on Shoop Drive as well as the rear yards off Fritz Lane, just north of Ray Street and just east of Dunstan Road.

On Dec. 1, crews will be working on Austin and Cheever avenues and then completing lines in the rear yards north of Ray Street and east of Dunstan Road.

Residents in the immediate area have been notified about the project. For more information, call the Geneva Public Works Department Water Division at 630-232-1551.
