More than 5,400 Geneva customers lost power March 19 after Commonwealth Edison's (ComEd) power supply dropped from three out of the City's five west side substations.
The initial outage impacted many customers from the Fox River west to Randall Road at 9:22 a.m. The problem area was narrowed to the Keslinger Road, Western Avenue and South Street substations. Geneva Public Works Department crews mobilized and began re-routing impacted customers to other operational substations in the City.
More than 3,000 customers had serviced restored in 22 minutes or less thanks to the quick work of Public Works. Here is the breakdown of those impacted and service time outage:

Geneva Public Works is working with ComEd to pinpoint what caused the utility's power supply to stop feeding the City's substations. An exact cause has not been determined as of March 19.
