With the Governor’s announcement calling for Illinois residents to “stay at home” due to the coronavirus outbreak, Geneva’s City facilities will be closed to the public starting Monday, March 23.
The City will continue to provide public safety and essential services to the community; however, due to reduced staffing levels, there may be a delay in responding to non-emergency inquiries.
The Governor’s March 20 executive order calls for residents to stay home from 5 p.m. Saturday, March 21 through Tuesday, April 7 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. People will be allowed to visit grocery stores, gas stations, doctor’s offices/hospitals, pharmacies, restaurants offering curbside service and their workplace if it is deemed essential by the Governor’s executive order. Taking walks outside or working in the yard also are permitted, but residents should maintain proper social distancing from others.
In the meantime, Geneva residents are encouraged to utilize electronic services to conduct City business. Utility bill payments can be paid online; over the phone by calling the Finance Division at 630-232-0854; mailed in; or deposited in dropboxes (no cash please) located at City Hall, the Finance Division and both fire stations.
Residents should call 911 in an emergency. Non-emergency concerns can be reported to the City online or by calling Geneva City Hall at 630-232-7494. A City staff email directory is also available online.
Garbage, recycling, yard waste and brush collection remain on the normal schedule.
At this time, no new permits are being reviewed by the City. Questions can be directed to the City’s Building Division at 630-262-0280.

Temporary Business Accommodations
During the statewide coronavirus public gathering restrictions, the City has issued temporary accommodations to assist Geneva’s restaurants and stores.
Parking and sign regulation enforcement has been relaxed for restaurants and merchants to utilize public parking spaces for curbside pickup operations. The City also will delay the due date of liquor license renewal applications and fees from April 1 to May 1 without proration or penalty. Daily fee parking in the Third Street Commuter Parking Deck and downtown commuter parking lots will be free until further notice.
