Lakeshore Reinstates Refuse Collection Programs

Lakeshore Recycling Systems Garbage Truck

Lakeshore Recycling Systems will resume the collection of bulk items/white goods in May and curbside electronics recycling next month after both programs were temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Bulk items are objects that are too large to fit into a garbage cart or can, such as a mattress or furniture; white goods are appliances. Geneva residents can attach a refuse sticker to each bulk or white good item set out with garbage on their normal collection day starting Thursday and Friday, May 21-22. Mattresses must be wrapped or enclosed in plastic. An unwrapped mattress will not be picked up by Lakeshore’s crews.

Lakeshore’s curbside electronics recycling program also will be reinstated beginning in June. Full program details, including required refuse stickers, is available on the City’s website.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection programs have continued as normal the past few months.
