[ARCHIVED] City Working With Local Businesses As Part Of 'Restore Illinois' Plan

Coronavirus

The northeast Chicago region, which includes Geneva, remains in Phase 2 of the Governor’s "Restore Illinois" plan through Friday, May 29. While businesses are allowed to offer curbside pickup under this phase, sidewalk and other outdoor business sales are not currently permitted under the state’s plan.

On May 20, the Governor announced that Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan will include the opening of outdoor restaurant dining with certain safety limitations beginning on May 29. Other Phase 3 highlights include:

•    Fitness providers can offer one-on-one training and outdoor fitness classes for groups of up to 10
•    Barbershops and salons can open with approved state safety-guidance; and
•    Retail stores across all segments can reopen with state-issued guidelines; including face coverings.

The City of Geneva is working with local businesses to develop appropriate plans to transition from Phase 2 to Phase 3. The State has advised municipalities additional guidelines will be released in advance of the scheduled opening May 29. Geneva’s finalized plans must incorporate guidelines for re-opening as set by the State. Proposals under review include the ability for restaurants to expand seating areas on private and public property.

Stay tuned to the City’s COVID-19 response web page for the latest updates.
