[ARCHIVED] City Seeking Applications For Advisory Board Vacancies

Want to make a difference in your community but not sure where to start? The City of Geneva is looking for dedicated volunteers to fill vacancies on its Strategic Plan Advisory Committee.

The committee is charged with prioritizing community goals outlined in the City’s strategic plan, encouraging citizen input and assisting with goal implementation. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The City is seeking to add one adult and one student member to the committee.

Residents interested in serving on this advisory board should submit an application along with a letter of interest by Wednesday, Aug. 12 to Mayor Kevin Burns, Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134. The envelope should include a reference to the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee.

Adult candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the position:

• Be a legal U.S. citizen;
• Live in Geneva for a minimum of one year;
• Be a registered voter;
• Have no felony convictions; and
• Be current on taxes and payments to the City.

Student candidates must in high school, preferably entering their junior year during the 2020-21 school year. Teens also must be legal U.S. citizens and live within the City’s corporate boundaries.

Mayor Burns will review all the applications and bring forward nominations to the City Council.
