The community and visitors look forward to Geneva festivals year after year. Knowing that our first thought, during these uncertain times, is the health and safety of those who may attend a festival, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Festival of the Vine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was scheduled to be held Friday to Sunday, Sept. 11-13.“While this decision was difficult, Phase 4 guidelines do not permit an event the size of Festival of the Vine. We felt this decision is for the safety of our Festival of the Vine visitors and participants. We know the Festival of the Vine is very popular and looked forward to, not only by the locals but visitors to Geneva as well, therefore we have created Sip & Sample Through September,” said Paula Schmidt, President of Geneva Chamber of Commerce. “A month-long event of restaurants offering a sip and a sample of a popular or new item. It is our hope that patrons will then stay for breakfast, lunch or dinner in that eatery and help support the Geneva Chamber as well.”Tickets and more information for Sip & Sample Through September will be available by Monday, Aug. 24 on the Chamber’s website.“We thank the community for their support and know that the Geneva Chamber is working on creative ways to have smaller, permittable events,” said Laura Rush, Communications Manager of Geneva Chamber of Commerce.Updates on all festivals and events may be found on the Chamber’s website.
