The City of Geneva will be modifying the speed limit on Kaneville Road from 40 mph to 30 mph between Peck Road and Fargo Boulevard to help improve traffic safety.
The Public Works Department will be changing the speed limit signs on Friday, Oct. 16. The Geneva Police Department will be conducting an educational enforcement campaign on that stretch of Kaneville Road for the next month.
Earlier this year, the City conducted a traffic study based on resident concerns regarding speeding. The study also indicated it was challenging for motorists to reduce their speed from 40 mph to the 20 mph school zone at Viking Drive. The situation, given the number of Geneva Middle School North & South children walking in the area, created potential unsafe traffic conditions within the school zone.
The Geneva City Council approved the speed limit change during its Oct. 5 meeting.
