[ARCHIVED] Masks Required In City Buildings After County Reaches 'Substantial' COVID-19 Level

COVID-10 Wear Your Mask

Geneva’s City facilities remain open to the public, but masks will now be required for all guests after Kane County COVID-19 community positivity rate reached a level of “substantial” transmission July 31.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines recommend every person, including fully vaccinated individuals, wear a mask in public indoor settings where community transmission levels for COVID-19 are “substantial” or “high.” People should follow other mitigation steps such as physical distancing, handwashing, and staying at home/getting tested when feeling sick.

The Kane County Health Department states vaccinations are the best defense to ending the pandemic. To schedule an appointment, visit www.kanevax.org.

Staying consistent with following state and federal health guidelines, the City is requiring everyone to wear a face mask when entering City facilities, including public meetings.

While City facilities remain open, Geneva residents are strongly encouraged to utilize electronic services to conduct City business. Utility bill payments can be paid online; over the phone by calling the Finance Department at 630-232-0854; U.S. mail; or deposited in dropboxes (no cash please) located at City Hall, the Finance Department and both fire stations.

Residents should call 911 in an emergency. Non-emergency issues can be submitted online by clicking the “Report A Concern” button on the City’s website, or by calling Geneva City Hall at 630-232-7494. A City staff directory also is available online.

The Geneva City Council and City advisory board meetings are being conducted in person at City Hall. Visitors are welcome to attend as long as they wear a face mask indoors. City Council, Committee of the Whole, Historic Preservation Commission, and Planning & Zoning Commission meetings air live on Geneva Broadcast Network and also can be watched on the City’s YouTube channel. The City has posted guidelines online for public participation at upcoming meetings.

Given the changing nature of this pandemic, residents and businesses should check the City’s website for the latest information on the City’s coronavirus response page.
