Want to make a difference in your community but not sure where to start? The City of Geneva is looking for a dedicated volunteer to fill a vacancy on its Fire and Police Commission.
The commission is charged with hiring all full-time officers for the Fire and Police departments, except for the Police and Fire chiefs. The commission also conducts all entrance and promotional examinations required by law.
Residents interested in serving on this board should submit an application along with a letter of interest by Monday, Sept. 27 to Mayor Kevin Burns, Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134. The envelope should include a reference to the Geneva Fire and Police Commission.
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the position:
- Be a legal U.S. citizen;
- Live in Geneva for a minimum of one year;
- Be a registered voter;
- Have no felony convictions; and
- Be current on taxes and payments to the City.
Mayor Burns will review all the applications and bring forward a nomination to the City Council.
