A Geneva man was arrested Dec. 18 following an investigation of a domestic dispute that took place three days earlier involving an adult male family member.
Bobby J. Haven III, 26, of the 1000 block of Westfield Course, has been charged with:
- Attempted Murder – 1st Degree – Intent to cause death or great bodily harm, Class X felony (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1));
- Aggravated Domestic Battery – Strangle, Class 2 felony (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3 (a-5)); and
- Aggravated Domestic Battery, Class 2 felony (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3(a)).
At 1:18 a.m. Dec. 15, Geneva Police responded to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance called in by another family member. Upon arrival, officers observed Haven III holding an unconscious man from behind while seated in a reclining chair. The man was immediately taken by ambulance to Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he remains in critical condition.
Initial interviews led to the belief the man suffered from an unknown medical issue.
Haven III voluntarily responded to the Geneva Police Department at 7:40 a.m. Dec. 18 when he admitted to allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with the family member. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office then authorized charges against Haven III, who is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing today.
Haven III is presumed innocent on all charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
