[ARCHIVED] City Flag Lowered For Two Community Contributors

City Hall Flag Lowered

The Geneva flag at City Hall has been lowered to half-staff in memory of Dennis Kabela and Dr. Peter Lee.

Mr. Kabela was a former 3rd Ward alderman from 1981-89, served as City Clerk from 1993-2005, and was a volunteer/part-time Geneva Fire Department firefighter from 1967 throughout the 1970s. Mr. Kabela died Jan. 27, and the family plans to hold a celebration of life in the spring.

Outside of conducting his private practice, Dr. Lee could be found helping his mom Jenny Lee run her restaurant, Gen Hoe, the longest, continuously operating restaurant in the community. Dr. Lee, 54, of Geneva, died Jan. 27, and his obituary can be found online.

A moment of silence for both community contributors will be held at the beginning of the Monday, Feb. 7 City Council meeting. The City of Geneva expresses its condolences to both families on their losses.
