Geneva has earned yet another honorable distinction, this time being named by Thrillist as being one of the top vacation destinations near Chicago.

Thrillist said the following about Geneva:

"An easy 1 hour drive or about-the-same Metra ride provides the quickest escape from the City (Chicago). This cool little town along the Fox River has an infinity of outdoor restaurants tailor-made for waterfront drinking. We recommend Fiora’s or Gratto, but either way an overnight stay at the Herrington Inn is a must."

The review also recommended people who enjoy nature to visit Geneva's Island Park.

Thrillist wrote its Top 10 places to drive to vacation from Chicago so readers could make a quick getaway before summer officially ends. Other areas that made the list include Galena; Door County, Wis.; Lake Geneva, Wis.; and Traverse City, Mich.
