The Geneva Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) is seeking volunteers for severe weather spotting, traffic management, festival crowd control and other emergency-related tasks.
The agency assists both the Geneva Police and Fire departments as well as key community organizations such as the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Geneva Park District. GEMA also works with other emergency management departments at the municipal, county, state and federal levels.
The City is seeking like-minded, community-oriented volunteers. People must be at least 18 years old, be a high school graduate (or possess a GED), have a valid driver’s license, live within a close proximity of Geneva, and be able to pass an official interview and background check. Other expectations include attendance at GEMA’s monthly general planning and training meetings, and volunteer support for a majority of the agency’s emergency call-outs and planned events.
