[ARCHIVED] Community Alert Siren Project Scheduled Nov. 4

Fire News - New Water Tower

Traffic on Kaneville Road east of Viking Drive may be limited to one lane during daytime hours Friday, Nov. 4 as a contractor replaces the City’s community alert siren.

Braniff Communications will be working from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Kaneville Road near Stonewood Glen Drive. The crew will be utilizing a crane and bucket truck to make several equipment lifts to the top of a pole. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic for any temporary lane closures.

Once the repair is completed, the City may conduct testing at a low volume that will only be heard within a very short distance of the siren.

The community alert sirens are an important part of the City’s comprehensive storm/civil emergency plan and are utilized when there is a report of a tornado or other severe weather in the immediate area of Geneva. Sirens are tested at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

The project is weather permitting. For more information, call the Geneva Fire Department at 630-232-2530.
