The City of Geneva is mourning the loss of former Deputy Fire Chief Mark Einwich, 55, who died Jan. 27.
Mr. Einwich worked in the Geneva Fire Department for 30 years prior to his retirement in November 2022. He also was still active at his volunteer department with Burlington Community Fire Protection District and had previously volunteered at the Pingree Grove & Countryside Fire Protection District. He also worked as an Elburn police officer and was a Kane County Sheriff's Office telecommunicator.
"Mark loved the fire service and public safety service in general," Geneva Fire Chief Mike Antenore said. "Mark was a paramedic for over 30 years and took great pride in his skills and how he delivered patient care. He was very personable, always willing to step in to help his fellow firefighters."
The Geneva City Council honored Einwich with a moment of silence at its March 20 meeting. The Geneva flag at City Hall will be lowered in Einwich's memory from Thursday to Monday, March 23-27. His obituary can be found online.
The City of Geneva sends its condolences to the Einwich family, including his wife, six children, parents, and grandchildren, on their loss.
