[ARCHIVED] Fire Department Alerts Community About Fire Extinguisher Recall Notice

The Geneva Fire Department urges residents to check their fire extinguishers to make sure they are not part of a national recall notice.

Kidde is recalling 31 models of plastic disposable fire extinguishers - about 4.7 million units overall - in the United States and Canada. The fire extinguishers have a faulty valve component and may not discharge when the lever is repeatedly pressed and released, which could pose an injury risk during a fire emergency.

Consumers should contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher. Kidde's toll-free number is 855-283-7991 or visit www.kidde.com.
