The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be making improvements to an existing pedestrian crossing on Kirk Road at the Illinois Prairie Path (north of Averill Road) starting in March.
The project will consist of new pavement markings, ADA-compliant curbs and ramps as well as a flashing yellow beacon light that pedestrians can activate to warn motorists before crossing Kirk Road.
Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to begin Thursday, March 12 and is expected to be completed by the end of April. Construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
