Kane County will begin demolition operations of the former Sixth Street School building on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The City of Geneva issued a demolition permit Sept. 15 to the County's contractor. Tearing down the building, 210 S. Sixth St., is scheduled to last three weeks, and final site work project completion is anticipated to be six weeks, weather permitting.
The City has advised the construction crew of permitted work hours, which are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays and holidays. The contractor also has been advised of the City’s requirements for dust control.
