[ARCHIVED] Fire Department To Perform Water Flow Testing On City's West Side

Geneva will be conducting water flow tests on fire hydrants between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the next several weekdays primarily on the City’s west side.

Residents living in the following areas might experience rusty water during or immediately after the testing Friday, Oct. 30 or Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 2 to 3:

• West of Randall Road;
• Fairway Circle;
• Bent Tree Drive;
• Seventh and State streets; and
• School Street and Woodward Avenue. (east side)

The water is safe to drink, but residents are encouraged to let their faucets run for a few minutes to flush them out if they notice any discoloration.

Residents should refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear. In the event rusty water discolors clothing, keep the laundry wet and call the Geneva Public Works Department at 630-232-1501 to request a rust removing solution packet.

The testing provides valuable information to Geneva’s Fire and Water departments on water supplies available for firefighters and where infrastructure upgrades may be needed. For more information about the water flow testing, call Fire Marshal Phil Affrunti at 630-232-2530.
