The Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) will inspect the Kirk Road bridge over the Union Pacific railroad on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 7-8, weather permitting.
This work, which will take place immediately south of State Street (Route 38), will require a single lane closure between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution and be extra alert. Drivers must watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
People should expect delays while traveling through the work areas and may want to consider using alternate routes.
A reminder – it is illegal for drivers to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
The inspections are being conducted as part of KDOT’s ongoing bridge inspection and maintenance programs. Information obtained during the inspections is used to load rate the structures as well as plan future maintenance, rehabilitations and replacement projects.
Questions and concerns may be directed to Mike Zakosek, KDOT’s Chief of Design, at 630-584-1170. For all Kane County traffic advisories, see the link below.
