[ARCHIVED] IDOT Route 38 Sidewalk Project Scheduled For This Fall

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be removing and replacing non-compliant ADA sidewalk ramps and curbs along Route 38 this fall in seven communities, including Geneva.

Construction is scheduled to take place at most intersections between Fourth Street and Bricher Road on West State Street from Monday, Sept. 26 to Friday, Oct. 14, weather permitting.

IDOT may start some pre-construction equipment mobilization and posting signage starting as early as Sept. 12.

Temporary lane closures are expected to take place along West State Street while work is in progress. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time to reach their destination. Please pay attention to flaggers in the area directing traffic in construction zones. IDOT's contractor will be prohibited from closing eastbound lanes during the morning rush hour and westbound lanes in the evening rush hour.

Sidewalk segments may be closed to pedestrian traffic to allow for construction activity. Pedestrians should follow sidewalk closure signage.
