Tips To Prevent Mosquitoes

During the season, residents are urged to take the following actions to reduce mosquito production and the risks associated with West Nile Virus and ZIKA Virus:

  • Apply mosquito repellent during periods of outdoor exposure, especially at dusk.
  • Eliminate areas of standing water such as roof gutters, pails, etc.
  • Clean and change the water in bird baths and other items at least every five to seven days to avoid mosquito breeding.
  • Report mosquito annoyance and standing water issues online to Clarke, the City's mosquito abatement contractor.

Residents also can check out Clarke's yard and home checklist for additional tips to combat mosquitoes.

Questions regarding the City's mosquito management program can be directed to the Geneva Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
