Garbage / Recycling / Yard Waste
Garbage is collected on Thursday or Friday of each week depending on the location of the residence. Refuse and recycling carts should be placed at the curb between 7 p.m. the previous night and 6 a.m. the day of collection.
Residents still have the option to choose a "pay as you throw" user-based model with garbage stickers or select one of three sized garbage carts that will have a monthly subscription fee. See more info below.

Please note, the City's new garbage contract does not apply to residents of the Mill Creek subdivision, which is unincorporated. Please call Kane County regarding garbage questions.
Refuse pickup will be delayed one day during the week of the following holidays:
|New Year's Day||Labor Day|
|Memorial Day||Thanksgiving Day|
|Independence Day||Christmas Day|
Residents choosing the "pay as you throw" option must place one garbage sticker on each bag or trash can. Please note, cans must be limited to 32 gallons or 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds may need to be scheduled for removal.
Yard waste and bulk items also will require refuse stickers.
Residents can choose to dispose of their trash with a garbage cart issued from Lakeshore Recycling. Carts come in 35, 65 or 95-gallon cart, all which carry a monthly subscription charge. No refuse stickers are necessary when utilizing the carts.
People interested in changing the size of their garbage cart should do so prior to Friday, Aug. 31 by contacting Lakeshore Recycling's customer service department.
New residents will not be assessed a charge for subscribing for cart service.
20-Gallon Waste Bags
Senior citizens also have the option of purchasing 20-gallon waste bags that are sold in rolls of 10 at select locations. See garbage rates for price details.
