Utility Bill Schedule Change

The City of Geneva is streamlining the utility bill distribution schedule starting in November 2024.

The City has four different billing dates built into its monthly distribution schedule, which was previously needed to give City staff enough time to manually read electric and water meters throughout Geneva. In recent years, the City has transitioned to an electronic meter reading system that provides hourly reads directly to our Finance Department.

Utility Billing Schedule ChangeThis enhancement enables the City to consolidate from four billing issue dates (6, 15, 22, 30) to two each month (15 and 30), starting in November.

All customers will continue to receive one utility bill each month. The conversion will impact about 50% of Geneva’s utility customers when they receive their bill.

Utility bills issued on:

  • The sixth day will move to the middle of the month; and
  • The 22nd day will be shifted to the end of the month.

Customers who receive a new billing issue date also will have a new due date. For those who have established AutoPay services with the City, the schedule change will alter when funds are withdrawn from personal bank accounts.

The upcoming change creates consistent billing dates for customers while also freeing up time for City employees to work on additional finance-related projects.

City utility bills will remain on the current schedule for October before the new bill issue dates take effect in November.
