Tree Trimming City Electric Lines

Project Description

This project involves the annual pruning & removal of trees that pose the potential to interfere with the electric utility lines during the course of the next four years.

Although most trees do not pose a problem, some have been planted too close or even directly under power lines. When greenery infringes on power lines, trimming is necessary to prevent power outages. Beyond outage concerns, trees in close proximity to power lines are a fire and safety risk, can damage the electric system, and cause the lights in your house to flicker.

Lines that are clear of branches, limbs and other types of debris make it easier and safer for the City's Electric Division crews to access and make repairs. When clearing around lines, tree trimming crews make sure proper pruning techniques are used to preserve tree health as much as possible.

Project Schedule

The 2026 tree trimming plan will occur west of the Fox River, south of State Street (Route 38) and east of Randall Road. Notices will be dropped off to impacted customers and property owners prior to operations beginning in their neighborhood. Work will occur periodically throughout the year as needed.
