More than 420 Geneva west side customers lost power April 19 due to a faulty underground cable.

The service disruption began at 7:06 p.m. The outage area was generally downtown, South Street, Southampton Drive and the Pepper Valley subdivision.

The Geneva Public Works Department isolated the fault and restored customers in stages, with 60% back online at 8:15 p.m. to the final 25 customers at 9:04 p.m.

As a reminder, residents should report outages occurring after hours and on weekends to the Geneva Police Department non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the on-call Public Works personnel. The City does not monitor social media channels and the online request system 24 hours a day.
