Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

The original item was published from May 25, 2023 2:51 PM to September 1, 2023 12:05 AM

A Nicor Gas contractor will be installing new service for the future Mandrake restaurant, which will be opening at the former Chiantis building in downtown Geneva.

Installation is scheduled to start Tuesday, May 30 near the southeast corner of Third and Campbell streets. The project will require the removal and replacement of a sidewalk square. All traffic lanes on Third Street are expected to remain open with only a minor lane shift needed at most.

Signage will be posted downtown notifying pedestrians that the sidewalk will be closed for several days. The schedule is weather-permitting and subject to change.
