The original item was published from April 23, 2024 2:13 PM to July 1, 2024 12:05 AM

A Nicor Gas contractor is installing a new gas main this spring along Kautz Road on the east side of Geneva.

Construction crews began boring in a new 4-inch pipe April 23 along Kautz Road and will continue that work Thursday, April 25. Crews will be on-site full-time the week of April 29 to finish along Kautz Road and then transition to side streets.

Nicor indicated new gas main service installation will occur during the weeks of May 6 and 13. Depending on the timeframe of transferring area customers to the new gas main, the old infrastructure will be retired by the end of May.

The City will provide updates when Nicor makes more information available.
