Geneva Police Sgt. Brad Jerdee (left center, joined by Geneva Deputy Police Chief Matt Dean, Deputy Police Chief Brian Maduzia, and Police Chief Eric Passarelli) recently graduated from the prestigious Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
The School of Police Staff and Command is an intensive leadership and management education program that helps prepare experienced law enforcement professionals for success in senior command positions.
Since its inception in 1983, law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and around the globe have recognized the importance this education program makes on their leadership and management teams. Through an innovative combination of academic principles with practical applications, the 10-week curriculum zeroes in on such critical command-level content as planning and policies, media relations, organizational behavior, budgeting and resource allocation, human resources, contemporary policing, and more.
Sgt. Jerdee joined the Geneva Police Department as a patrol officer in 2007. He rose through the ranks being promoted to Patrol Sergeant and now is an Administrative Sergeant. Prior to his promotion, Sgt. Jerdee served as a school resource officer.
In his current role as Administrative Sergeant, he oversees the evidence property room, employee background investigations, liquor license background investigations, and the Geneva Police Department vehicle fleet. Sgt. Jerdee also coordinates the department's fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Illinois.
“I am extremely proud of Sgt. Jerdee for successfully completing this challenging program," Chief Passarelli said. "He put in a significant amount of time and effort which will benefit the citizens of Geneva, the Geneva Police Department, and his law enforcement career.”
