The 48th annual Fox Valley Folk Music & Storytelling Festival will take place Sunday and Monday, Sept. 1-2, at Wheeler Park, 822 N. First St.
The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. On Sept. 1, the fun continues until 9 p.m. with a barn dance and spine-tingling tales.
The festival presents music and storytelling performances on six stages which run continuously, offering mini-concerts, in-the-round groupings of performers, and teaching workshops, plus a Kids Zone for family fun, exhibitions and food trucks. The event offers a variety of dance, storytelling, and music activities to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, including traditional folk, singer-songwriters, old-time, blues, and more. Patrons can stroll through the arts and crafts area and bring an instrument to play along at some of the jams.
Featured music artists appearing both days include Bob Bovee, Debra Cowan, Sara Grey, Donna Herula Trio, Connie Kaldor, Crys Matthews, Mustard’s Retreat, Spencer & Rains, Sam Robbins, Steam Machine, Chris Vallillo, Kray Van Kirk, and Jack Williams as well as featured storytellers Margaret Burk and Oba William King. Additionally, Mark Dvorak and February Sky will be appearing Monday only.
Festival information is available at the Fox Valley Folklore Society website and the Geneva Park District website.
