The original item was published from November 6, 2024 3:38 PM to February 1, 2025 12:00 AM

The Geneva Public Works Department responded to two power outages Nov. 5 on the east side of the City.

The first incident occurred at 4:15 p.m. when 55 customers lost service due to faulted 34kV equipment. The outage area included the Geneva Business Park, Kirkwood Drive and Averill Circle. Public Works crews were able to switch the electric load to an alternate source to bring customers back online by 4:45 p.m.

At 7:53 p.m., a faulty underground cable caused 313 customers to lose power in an area generally bounded by the Geneva East subdivision to the north, south of State Street including Glengarry Drive and Ridge Lane, west of Kirk Road, and east of East Side Drive. Public Works crews isolated the faulted cable and restored service by:

  • 146 customers - 8:16 p.m.;
  • 23 customers - 8:35 p.m.;
  • 99 customers - 8:50 p.m.
  • 23 customers - 10:15 p.m.; and
  • 22 customers - 10:33 p.m.

As a reminder, Geneva residents should report after-hours or weekend power outages to the Geneva Police Department by calling 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works staff to respond to the incident. Our online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
