Powering Up

Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on our website homepage. [ARCHIVED] Geneva Downtown Gardens Are In Full Bloom

The original item was published from August 6, 2025 12:32 PM to August 6, 2025 12:34 PM

Geneva is in Full Bloom!

Have you noticed the vibrant flowers brightening up downtown Geneva? From stunning flower beds to cheerful hanging baskets, these beautiful blooms are lovingly cared for by the Geneva Beautification Committee, a dedicated group of volunteers, families, businesses, and organizations who adopt and maintain these spaces throughout the Central Business District.

As you stroll through downtown, keep an eye out for signs in the gardens—each one highlights the name of a local group or individual who tends to that space. These passionate volunteers plant twice a year and continue caring for their beds all season long with weeding, pruning, watering, and lots of love.

Did you know the City Hall garden was designed by the renowned perennial expert Roy Diblik? Roy, co-owner of Northwind Perennial Farm and collaborator on Chicago’s famous Lurie Garden, generously donated his design services and plants for the project. Additional plants were donated by Midwest Ground Cover. This space beautifully showcases how native and natural plantings can thrive in an urban setting.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep the City of Geneva blooming beautifully!
