Geneva Public Works said 355 customers lost power Aug. 8 after a transformer failed on the City's west side.

The incident occurred at 4:55 p.m. and impacted customers along Keslinger, Peck, and Kaneville Roads as well as the Sterling Manor subdivision.

Public Works rerouted power to 354 customers to restore service by 7:18 p.m. Crews had to change out the damaged transformer to bring the last remaining customer on Kaneville Road back online by 11:08 p.m.

The best way to report power outages occurring after-hours, weekends and holidays is to call the Geneva Police Department non-emergency phone number at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the appropriate on-call Public Works staff to investigate the outage.

The City's SeeClickFix non-emergency request portal and the City's social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
