Nearly 1,200 Geneva customers in the Peppery Valley and Randall Square subdivisions lost power at 2:04 p.m. Feb. 6 due to a faulty underground cable.
The cable fault disrupted service to the City's South Street electric substation. The outage impacted residential customers in the two subdivisions and some businesses along the Randall Road corridor.
Geneva Public Works crews were able to isolate the bad section of cable and restored service to 93% of the affected customers by 2:34 p.m. The last remaining customers in the Randall Square subdivision were brought back online by 4:22 p.m.
