The Geneva Public Works Department said the East Side Drive Substation, feeder #4 was tripped before 5:30 p.m. July 11 causing an outage for nearly 780 customers.

The feeder served all of Geneva East both north and south sides of Geneva Drive as well as Division Street and Kirkwood. Public Works Department crews responded to the isolated faulted switch and restored service to 539 customers in just over an hour.

Crews did experience some unexpected setbacks during the repair which caused extended outages for the remaining 238 customers ranging from 90 minutes to more than three hours.

The following morning, 72 customers near Lexington Drive in Geneva East experienced a second outage around 5:25 a.m. due to a bad connection made from the feeder where power was connected to resolve the July 11 service disruption. Public Works repaired the faulted switch, and power was restored in just under two hours.
