[ARCHIVED] Wall Street - June 4

The original item was published from June 5, 2023 1:30 PM to September 1, 2023 12:05 AM

Twenty-one customers lost power starting at 12:15 a.m. June 4 on the east side of Geneva.

The outage was triggered by a broken cutout, which is a combination of a fuse and switch used in primary overhead feeder lines to protect distribution transformers from current surges and overloads. The impacted customers were located on Wall, Howard, Garfield, and East State streets.

The Geneva Public Works Department de-energized the primary feeder and replaced the cutout. Power was restored to all customers by 1:30 a.m.

As a reminder, residents should report outages occurring after hours and on weekends to the Geneva Police Department non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the on-call Public Works personnel. The City does not monitor social media channels and the online request system 24 hours a day.
