Union Pacific is building a third railroad line near the current UP-West railway tracks spanning from Peck Road in Geneva to West Chicago. Operations started in 2022 and the overall project is expected to be completed in 2024.
Sept. 22 Update
Metra announced the outbound platform (Platform No. 2) at the Geneva train station will be closed for rehabilitation starting Monday, Oct. 9 through the end of 2024.
Commuters must use the temporary platform that will be located east of Third Street in downtown Geneva.
Metra advised commuters to allow additional time to access the in-service platform and to exercise caution near work zones.
