Union Pacific is building a third railroad line near the current UP-West railway tracks spanning from Peck Road in Geneva to West Chicago. Operations started in 2022 and the overall project is expected to be completed in September 2024.
Nov. 30 Update
Union Pacific said the contractor is working along the Route 31 overpass and the Fox River to prepare for the construction of the expanded train bridge, including new piers being installed in the river.
The contractor continues to work on culverts in various locations in Geneva. Overall construction will continue throughout the corridor in the coming months as long as the weather remains favorable.
