A faulty underground cable triggered a power outage March 11 in the downtown and west toward the Pepper Valley subdivision.

The service disruption began at 9:32 p.m. impacting 441 customers living on Northampton Drive, Greenwich Lane, Pepper Valley Drive, Andover Lane, South Street, Cooper Lane, Meade Court, and Southampton Drive; as well as Third, Sixth, Eighth, Campbell, Fulton and Franklin streets.

Geneva Public Works crews isolated the faulted section of cable and re-energized the line, bringing customers back online in stages from 10:21 to 10:51 p.m. March 11:

  • Downtown & Meade Court - 253 customers, 49 minutes
  • Southampton Drive, South Street, Cooper Lane - 47 customers, 68 minutes; and
  • Northampton Drive, Greenwich Lane, Pepper Valley Drive and Andover Lane - 141 customers for 79 minutes.

As a reminder, customers can report power outages after hours by calling the Geneva Police Department’s non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. The City's online request system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
