Less than 30 Geneva west side customers lost power Aug. 17 due to an underground cable fault.
The service disruption began at 9:24 a.m. and impacted customers living on Wakefield Lane, Colonial Drive, Clover Lane, and Cambridge Drive.
Geneva Public Works isolated the faulty section of cable and transferred power to energized transformers. Power was brought back online incrementally:
- 9 customers had power restored at noon;
- 7 customers had power back by 12:30 p.m.; and
- 12 customers had service restored at 1 p.m.
As a reminder, Geneva residents should report after-hour or weekend power outages to the Geneva Police Department by calling 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works staff to respond to the incident. Our online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
