The Geneva Public Works Department believes a faulty underground cable caused a power outage at 10:13 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Pepper Valley subdivision.
The outage location was north of Kaneville Road to Williamsburg Avenue and from Northhampton Drive to Cambridge Drive. The City estimates 914 customers lost service.
Public Works crews were able to isolate the section of bad cable and restored service to 78 percent of the customers by 11:28 p.m. Power to the remaining 194 customers was back online by 12:40 a.m. Aug. 7.
