Graham's 318 Coffeehouse ongoing building addition is moving into a new phase of construction that will result in the sidewalk closure through Friday, April 26 outside the business at 318 S. Third St. in downtown Geneva.
Crews will be digging through the sidewalk and driveway to make connections to the water main and storm sewer that are located in the Third Street pavement. Saw cutting of the sidewalk and driveway is scheduled to begin Friday, April 12 to facilitate the pavement removal the week of April 15.
A portion of the sidewalk on the west side of the 300 block of South Third Street will be closed to pedestrians for two weeks. Signage will be placed on Third Street directing downtown visitors around the work site. A map can be found on the
project's construction web page.
All lanes of traffic are expected to remain open on Third Street throughout the project, but motorists are urged to use caution when driving near the work zone. Flaggers will be present periodically when construction approaches Third Street. A few street parking spaces near the business may be closed temporarily during construction.
Following the saw cutting and pavement removal, the project site may appear dormant, but the idle days are necessary for pressure testing/chlorinating the water main after the connection. The newly poured sidewalk and driveway concrete also will need time to cure.
The contractor will place steel plates over any open excavation sites.
The project schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
