[ARCHIVED] Geneva's Curbside Leaf Collection Program Resuming Nov. 15

Snow Leaves

Update - Nov. 14

Kramer Tree Specialists are scheduled to resume Geneva's curbside leaf collection program Friday, Nov. 15 after being forced to halt operations Nov. 12 due to snow and freezing temperatures.

The contractor should be finishing the first round pickup in Zone A (east side) Nov. 15 and will continue second round collections in Zones B & C, which had been started before the inclement weather arrived. Crews also will be working in both west side zones Saturday, Nov. 16.

During the week of Nov. 18, the contractor will be wrapping up the second round pickups on the west side and will start the second collection in Zone A (start date to be determined). Stay tuned for updates next week on the Leaf Collection web page.

Residents are encouraged to have their leaf piles accessible and unobstructed by vehicles to help crews move more efficiently. While operations will be resuming, progress may slow down at times due to wet leaves.

Even with the weather delays, the City of Geneva is committed to providing residents with three curbside leaf collection cycles. We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as we push through what Mother Nature has dished out to complete the program.

Original Announcement

Due to the early arrival of snow and freezing temperatures, the City's curbside leaf program has been temporarily suspended for Tuesday through Thursday, Nov. 12-14. Frozen, snow-covered leaves tend to jam up the vacuum equipment on the trucks and has slowed progress to date.

Kramer Tree Specialists, the City's contractor, is hoping to resume operations Friday, Nov. 15 and continue working into Saturday, Nov. 16, weather permitting.

When collection does restart, crews will be finishing up the first pickup in Zone A (east side) and continuing the second round in Zones B & C (west side) this week. Stay tuned to the Leaf Collection web page for additional updates in the coming days and follow the program's progress map.

Residents who still have questions regarding the leaf pickup can call the City's Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
