[ARCHIVED] IDOT To Replace Traffic Signal At State & Third Streets

Traffic Signal

Update

The traffic signal mast arm was not replaced Dec. 16. IDOT has not provided the City with any further information on this project.

Original Post - Dec. 13

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be replacing a traffic signal mast arm Monday, Dec. 16 near the Starbucks on the northeast corner of State Street (Route 38) and Third Street.

All traffic signals at the downtown Geneva intersection will be flashing red during the project. Westbound State Street traffic will be restricted to one lane and possibly halted all together intermittently to allow for the removal and replacement of the mast arm, which extends over the roadway.

IDOT informed the City Dec. 13 the mast arm had failed an inspection and needs to be replaced. Meade, IDOT's contractor, is scheduled to begin work at 9 a.m. Dec. 16, weather permitting.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic congestion.
