[ARCHIVED] Fire, Police Departments Respond To Report Of Possible Fox River Rescue

The Geneva Fire and Police departments responded to a report at 10:53 p.m. May 19 of a person “jumping” from the Union Pacific Railway trestle into the Fox River to avoid being struck by an oncoming train.

The original emergency call was made from a Metra train representative. Firefighters proceeded to search the Fox River, and police officers checked the river banks for the individual. After completing a thorough search of the area for two hours, no victim was located.

No additional search efforts will take place unless any further details develop. Anyone with information on this matter can call the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736.
